Apple Loses iPhone Prototype…Again

After losing an iPhone prototype last year, one might think Apple would be a bit more careful with their unreleased products. However, the Cupertino-based company apparently didn’t learn its lesson. CNET reports that an iPhone prototype has once again gone missing at a California bar.

Sprint Nearly Doubles Its Early Termination Fee

Adding more fuel to the “Sprint is getting the iPhone 5” fire, the wireless provider has announced that on its new contracts, the early termination fee (ETF) will be raised to $350 from its current price of $200.  Interestingly enough, that’s the same price for an early termination at AT&T and Verizon – both companies who currently sell the iPhone.

Sprint Issues Memo to Employees: Don’t Discuss iPhone 5

It seems like nearly every week there’s a new Apple/iPhone 5 rumor lately, and this week is no different – Sprint has apparently issued a memo to its retail employees asking them to refrain from discussing rumors of an Apple iPhone 5 on the Sprint Network.

The memo directs employees to not bring up the rumor with customers, and if the customer brings up the rumor on their own, to only say “no comment.” If a customer doesn’t drop the subject, employees can acknowledge that the rumor is out there and has been reported by news outlets, but again, are not allowed to make comment on the potential for an iPhone on the carrier.

Mophie Battery Case Gives Verizon iPhones 8 More Hours of Life

Mophie case for Verizon iPhone

Up until now, Verizon iPhone users who wanted to use the Mophie battery boost had only three options: they could carry around a Powerstation plug-in, they could settle for the Juice Pack Air, or they should use an ill-fitting AT&T Juice Pack Plus case – ill fitting thanks to a slight difference in the handset’s button placement.

Now, however, the 2000mAh Juice Pack Plus is compatible with both carries. It gives users up to 8 more hours of 3G talk time, for just a few millimeters of extra thickness. The rubberized charging case retails at round $100 and is available in black, cyan, magenta, yellow, and a limited edition purple, of which only 3,000 were made.

Big Brother Lurks In Your iPhone and 3G iPad

George Orwell warned us about Big Brother, but little did he know it would come in the form of an Apple iPhone or 3G iPad.  Sadly, developers have noticed that Steve Jobs and the guys installed tracking devices on all the new iPhones and iPads to record your whereabouts at all times.

Of course you, like many others, are wondering what implications this development has on your privacy. Why in the world does Apple need this information?  Apple’s Product Security Team has yet to comment on this.

Apple to Release iPhone 5 in June?

Will a fifth generation iPhone launch this summer? That’s the rumor. However, more than a few fans and industry insiders are skeptical of the claim. Here's why.

Rumors began swirling after South Korean news site ETNews.co.kr reported that Apple will release a new iPhone the fourth week of June. The report claims Apple has confirmed the time frame, but as CNN’s Doug Gross points out, it would be rather unlike the notoriously tight-lipped Apple to confirm a release date. The report also ran on April 1, leading some to wonder if it was an April Fools’ prank.
