"ICANN has opened the internet's addressing system to the limitless possibilities of the human imagination," said Rod Beckstrom, president and chief executive officer for ICANN. "No one can predict where this historic decision will take us."

decide.com

When you’re waffling over when to buy that hot new tech toy, it might be helpful to have a way to know whether you should buy it now or wait a few months. Thankfully, Decide.com is about to launch.

For the past two years, Decide has been tight-lipped about its business plans, yet managed to raise $8.5 million from Maveron, Madrona Venture Group, Google founding board member Ram Shriram, former Expedia CEO Erik Blachford, and other investors – all in the name of “building a revolutionary new shopping service that will bring unprecedented levels of transparency to electronics shopping.”

What does that mean? The goal of Decide is to offer a comparison shopping tool that will eradicate that feeling of buyer’s remorse – what if it goes on sale next week??

Huffington Post Shuts Down Software Blog Download Squad

It seems like no blog or writer is safe under the new AOL/Huffington Post merger. In a surprising move last night, popular software blog Download Squad was shut down. In an end-of-the-day email, staff for Download Squad were told that the blog was closed and they were jobless – effective immediately.

This doesn’t sit well with me, and I’m sure many other people – last week in the Huffington Post/AOL merger scandal..er, news… the company sent an email to freelance writers informing them that their services were no longer needed, but if they wanted to,  they could still write for free.
